What are the Children going to learn in KS2?


At Smallberry Green, children learn phonics throughout Early Years and Key Stage 1. It is taught daily, in short sessions so that children build up and practise the skills they need to use in reading and writing. At Key Stage 2 children work through the support for spelling programme. However, some children might need to reinforce or relearn phonics that were taught at Key Stage 1 or Early Years.


Practising the sounds correctly is really important!

The school follows the Letters and Sounds programme.

Each year group works on a phonic phase:

Year 2 works on phases 3,4,5 and 6.
